During this PhD research, methods of fabrication of novel flexible all-solid-state thin film batteries on metalic foils will be investigated. Emphasis will be put on the batteries with 3D pillar structure. During the research, methodology of producing 3D pillars on metalic foils will beestablished. Aluminum anodization will be investigated as an easy and cheap method to produce templates for 3D pillar structures. Possibility of upscaling the process will be also adressed.
Stimultaneously, attempts of producing planar flexible thin-film battery will be made, exploring compatibility of the battery active materials with metalic foils, assembling the cells and embedding them in flexible polymers as acrylates.
After establishing methods of producing planar flexible thin-film battery, efford will be put to transfer the processing to 3D structures. This will necessarly need to address conformal deposition of active materials on 3D pillars. After hopefully successful assembly of the cell, electrochemical characterization will be done, and effect of deformation onthe battery performance will be analyzed.
