In our second online talk of 2021 Prof Annemie Bogaerts will describe the work of her Research group PLASMANT and 'Plasma-based CO2 conversion' - an area that is gaining increasing interest

To improve this application in terms of conversion, energy efficiency and product formation, a good insight into the underlying mechanisms is desirable. Prof Bogaerts works to obtain this by computer modelling, supported by experimental research.

She will first provide a brief introduction on plasma in general: how is it formed and what are the major applications. Subsequently she will zoom into the application of CO2 conversion by plasma and plasma catalysis. She will give an overview of the state-of-the-art in plasma-based CO2 (and CH4) conversion, with different types of plasma reactors, and also discuss the differences (and potential benefits) compared to other emerging technologies for CO2 conversion. Finally, she will present a few results obtained in Antwerp in this domain, including experiments and modeling for a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms and for improved performance.

Registration for this event is now open via this link. Details of how to access the event will only be sent to registered participants on the day of the event.
