12ème journée rencontre des jeunes chimistes de la SRC

The organizing committee of the young chemists division of the Royal Chemical society of Belgium is pleased to present you the 12th edition of the “One-day meeting of the young chemists”. As every year, this one-day seminar is organized to allow the young researchers of Belgium to meet together and communicate their research in a convivial ambience.

The objective of this one day seminar is to facilitate networking and scientific exchange between the young researchers of Belgium. This unrivalled seminar offers you an opportunity to meet the young researchers from other Belgian universities during a complete day and to participate to presentations that are organized, given and attended by other young researchers in a relaxed and convivial ambience. During the meeting, you will be invited to present your research work either through a plenary talk or a poster presentation. These conferences will be given in English and will allow you to familiarize with the exercise of scientific communication. The particularity of this event is that it allows you to improve your oral presentation skills in a less formal environment than in international conferences. This feature of the one-day meeting thus makes it a perfect place to practice before going to larger conferences.

Thanks to the support of the Royal Chemical Society of Belgium, the best plenary and poster communications of the day will be assessed and prizes will be distributed to reward them. The best presentation will be rewarded by a financial contribution of 200€; and the best poster presentation will be rewarded by one year of free membership to the Royal Chemical Society of Belgium. More than the material aspect of these rewards, they allow the rewarded to add value to his C.V. The the best presentation and the best poster will be elected by the attendees at the end of the meeting. These contests will insure a high quality of the communications done during the day and will allow you to make the most of this day.

This one-day meeting is also a perfect place to improve your professional network, and may allow to initiate new inter-universitary collaborations, but it is above all an occasion to meet and to share with other young researchers and students, may they work in the same field as you or not, in a convivial ambience.

On this 12th edition of the One-day meeting, the second edition of the short presentation contest contest that is organized in the Honor of Prof. Jean-Claude Braekman will be organized. Jean-Claude Braekman recently is the former Secretary of the Royal Chemical Society of Belgium from which he retired in 2018. To Honor his invaluable contribution to the SRC during his 17 years of service, we organize the second edition of the Jean-Claude Braekman quick-presentation contest. This contest will reward the best quick presentation (5 min) about an effective collaboration with a foreign laboratory or group, that took place during the PhD of an effective member of the SRC. The reward is a prize of 500€ and will reward both the communicational skills and the scientific aspects of the collaboration.
