Amphora™ SP1621 is a new plastic developed for 3D printing with lasers, a technique that builds solid parts layer by layer from fine powder. Unlike the stiff plastics commonly used in this process, Amphora is both flexible and recyclable, offering a more sustainable option for 3D printing. The material is made of two types of building blocks: one that gives strength and rigidity, and another that provides elasticity. To understand how these components interact, the study investigated how the material behaves when it melts, cools, and ages. The study revealed two different crystallization regimes, depending on the temperature, and showed that the material can become unstable during prolonged heating. It also examined how the material ages over time when stored under its softening temperature. These findings help improve control over the printing process, enhance product quality, and support the development of stronger, more durable, and more sustainable materials for 3D printing.
