This thesis bridges the gap between the limited knowledge on the use of modified iron silicate slag (MFS slag, obtained from Cu production) in concrete, versus the more established knowledge on the use of blast furnace slag (BFS, obtained from iron and steel production). MFS slag and BFS have different chemical composition, so is their expected behaviour as cement replacement. The goal of the conducted research is to better understand the reactivity of MFS slag and the workability, strength and durability of MFS based concrete, as a driver for the further development of this new binder system. Additionally, large-scale steel reinforced MFS slag concrete members, representative for isostatic one-way loadbearing floor slabs, were manufactured in industry and further tested.
