Basic oxygen furnace(BOF) slag is a by-product of the oxygen converter process and is a mixture of different mineral phases. The recycling of BOF slag is a significant challenge for steelmaking in order to alleviate the strains of global resourcing and to achieve higher value products. However, because of the hydration and carbonation of the free lime and free magnesia which occur with aging, the application of BOF slag in road construction or cement production is limited. So it is of great practical importance to stabilized the BOF slag. One of the methods used to stabilized BOF slag and to achieve high value products is to eject solid SiO2 particles and other materials into the slag under high temperature. An important issue facing this process is that the BOF slag cannot be processed in the stabilisation plant due to the high slag viscosity. Though there have already many studies on the viscosities of molten slags, only very limited number of investigations on viscosities of slags containing solid particles are available. Therefore, it is essential to understand how the factors affect the viscosity of the slag system and its influence mechanisms. All Dates
