The CRISPR/Cas9 technology has taken the research community by storm since its first publication in 2012. This system offers an unprecedented genome editing efficiency and was awarded the Science breakthrough of the year in 2015. It has already been adapted for precision medicine, crop development and treating plagues but its potential goes far beyond. In this talk I will explain the basic principle and illustrate why this technology has so much potential. However, I will also cover the dark side of CRISPR/Cas9 and discuss why it has been called a weapon of mass destruction.

Attending the lecture is free for members of KVCV, members of Chemika pay € 2 and others pay € 4 (payment on the spot).

The lecture starts at 19h00. After the lecture the attendees are invited for a reception in the corridors.
