EurJOC-KVCV-SRC Best PhD Thesis Prize  

This PhD prize, sponsored by the European Journal of Organic Chemistry and the Divisions of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry of SRC and KVCV, will be awarded annually and recognizes an outstanding and original contribution from a PhD student to organic and bioorganic chemistry. This prize, which consists of a certificate, a voucher from Wiley and €500 to participate in a conference, will be delivered for the first time in 2024 during the Merck Organic Chemistry Conference (MOCS) in Blankenberge (December 5 & 6, 2024) which the candidate is expected to attend.

Applicants willing to apply for this award must have obtained their PhD from a Belgian university maximum 2 years before the closing date of the call for applications (i.e. not earlier than October 19 2022 - with extension(s) corresponding to maternity or paternity leave(s)) and must have been members of KVCV and/or SRC for a minimum of two years during their PhD.

  • a CV (including ORCID or ResearcherID identifiers) – 2 pages maximum;
  • a 4-page summary of the PhD thesis including a section highlighting the creativity and impact of the work in organic and bioorganic chemistry;
  • proof of membership in SRC/KVCV for a minimum of two years during PhD;
  • a letter of support from the PhD supervisor(s).

 

Minakem-KVCV-SRC Emerging Talent Award in Organic Chemistry

The Minakem-KVCV-SRC Emerging Talent Award in Organic Chemistry”, sponsored by Minakem and jointly awarded by the Divisions of Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry of SRC and KVCV, aims to honor a young independent academic affiliated to a Belgian research institution for outstanding early contributions to organic and bioorganic chemistry. This three-yearly award, which consists of a certificate and 1.000 €, will be delivered for the first time in 2024 during the Merck Organic Chemistry Symposium (MOCS) conference in Blankenberge (December 5 & 6, 2024).

Applicants willing to apply for this award must have obtained their PhD maximum 15 years before the closing date of the call for applications (i.e. not earlier than October 14th 2009; with extension(s) corresponding to maternity or paternity leave(s)) and must have been members of KVCV and/or SRC for the last two years.

  • a CV (including ORCID and/or ResearcherID identifiers and a full list of publications in which corresponding authorship should be indicated);
  • a letter of application highlighting the creativity of the applicant in organic and bioorganic chemistry and showing independence (for instance by being corresponding author for publications);
  • a proof of membership of SRC/KVCV for the last two years;
  • a copy of the PhD diploma;
  • a letter of support from a professor affiliated to a Belgian research institution.

The candidate is expected to attend the MOCS conference in Blankenberge (December 5 & 6, 2024) where the award will be delivered.
